Fred's The Best in CPCC's Clean Sweep

CPCC Stalwart Dave Quarford turned in a
career best day last weekend to lead the A3s on to a big outright
victory. Freddy started the day with an unbeaten 33 to get the
Plateau over the line in the contest for 7 first innings points &
The Chewy Cup. He then cut a swathe through the Manly Breakers
batting claiming 6/14 which included a Hattrick setting up a run
chase of only 93 which Collaroy achieved to take all 10 valuable
points.

All grades took the points in Round 5
with the A1s defending their big total of 267 against Mona Vale at
Lake Park thanks to Mick Trevaskis' 6 wicket haul (6/41) following
up his 50 with the bat on day 1. The A2s finished with the first
innings win they'd scored on day 1 whilst a solid run chase by the
B2s (Josh Toth 75* & Tom Carden 34) gave them a first innings
victory. The B1s took a win thanks to a Long Reef forfeit.

Round 2 Off-spinner Jamie Hobdell has entered CPCC's

Australian cricket last weekend according to the My Cricket website.
Jamie joins only 5 other bowlers in CPCC history with 9 wickets in an

Did You Know?
SS Collaroy. Iron
paddle steamer, 419 tons. Built Liverpool, 1853. Arrived
Sydney under canvas in 1854. Ran between Sydney and Hunter
River. Wrecked American coast, probably California, June
1889. [DG] On 20 January 1881, ashore on Narabeen Beach,
NSW. Remained till September, resisting attempts of nature
to break her up, when refloated and taken to Sydney for
repairs. Converted into a schooner and made two trips to
California. Such was her attraction whilst stranded that the
beach became known as Collaroy Beach.
