THE FULL NELSON
CPCC End of Season Trip to Nelson Bay & Presidents v Captains Match - 31st March, 1st & 2nd April 2006
A solid touring party of around 20 enjoyed a packed itinery which included the traditional Nelson Bay Masters on the Friday (won by Luke Ireland), a revitalising swim at One Mile Beach on the Saturday and the first running of the President's XI v Captain's XI since the Eighties on Sunday. Highlights of the weekend included Minnett nearly breaking a hundred at golf, Pete's red leather jacket so stunningly modelled by Mossy at 3am, Clifton Leak being paged to the Sports Bar at the RSL just prior to Manly beating the Roosters, and Steve Carden hitting the winning runs for the President's XI team at Mandalong on the Sunday. Thanks to Stirling Hammond for use of his fine turf ground, day manager Rob Minnett for getting the tourists out of bed in time on Sunday and to the ground, and John Jackson for coordinating a thoroughly enjoyable fixture.
