TOWERS Baseball Team Wins Grand Final:

Saturday 26/08/06 4.00pm: CPCC's Towers Baseball team has taken out the MWBA 5th Grade Premiership with a thrilling 14-13 win over the Balgowlah Bandits this afternoon at Aquatic 2. The Towers were 3 runs behind in the bottom of the 7th and last innings before Paul Brown and Luke Ireland came up with crucial hits to level the match. Baseball stalwart John Bardsley hit in the winning run with one out to clinch the title after the team were behind for the entire match. Whilst the win was an exciting climax to the season for the Towers, from a club perspective it was bittersweet as The Bandits team included CPCC Life Member Graydon Conde and CPCC A2 players Adam Pressley, Blake Conde and Mack Morrison. Blake pitched a terrific game whilst Adam took a clutch diving catch in right field.

For the Towers however it capped a great season of development after dropping down from an unsuccessful 3rd grade campaign the previous season. The new squad went into the final short priced favourites but were soon behind 9-3 and trailed the Bandits all the way to last innings. The team will be back bigger and better in Winter 07.
